I took these first three photos in Edinburgh of the OZ Bar, which seemed like a locally famous Australian bar. You can tell it was a bar with a fun, mystic vibe that unfortunately abandoned its practices, and left their funky signage outside for people like me to admire and long to go inside. All of their signage looked hand-painted which I enjoyed, and the text married with the images really well.

I like the way the OZ favors the Wizard of Oz text style, and droops down into the doorway, almost seeming to scream in your face. Beyond the type, I also really like the painting of the koala and platypus and the patterns surrounding them that essentially make the vibe the way it is.

You can so tell they hired a professional painter to design the storefront. The detail on the alligator is insane. What I like about this example of type is that the VB is almost reminiscent of the bus top sign in front of it. That may just be the beer brand's logo, but it still favors.

This photo was taken just beside the OZ Bar. It is a promotion for a spoken word event, so you can see how the space in between the words reflect someone speaking them. I also really like the text itself, because it's a different way of saying, "Money is the root of all evil."

This was taken on the Royal Mile. I played Webkinz as a kid and there was a place called Curio Shop (WITH THE SAME FONT) owned by a dog with a country accent who always said "Welcome to Curio Shop. Hope you find what you're lookin' for." And you mined for gems in a cave. That nostalgia flooded my brain when I saw this.
