Sol's Adventures During Week One

Where do I begin with cool and amazing experience? Well, let's start with the first day and going to Buckingham Palace. This was the hottest day in history for England and we felt every degree. The palace was beautiful, and breathtaking, and took me back to how we were there. Seeing the soldiers and how they had to stand there in the heat was shocking. We traveled to the Westminster Abby area where we found a sprinkler and ran through it as we’d never seen a sprinkler before. After, that we went to dinner and a super fun bar named Balli Ballerson. A bar with two cute ball pits and the cutest drinks. We danced, submerged, and jumped everywhere. I had the most fun in my life that night.

The next couple of days we saw the most beautiful artworks I could imagine. We saw The British Museum and I loved the different cultures incorporated. Seeing mummies, Roman statues, middle eastern artifacts, Japanese artwork, and The Rosetta Stone was super astonishing to see. Next, we saw the London Museum, and that really went into depth about what long history this country has. We were introduced to the Roman Empire in the 2000s. From fashion to plaques of the different eras in London.

The next day we head to the National Museum. This was honestly the highlight of my week. Entering and seeing these grand paintings. From Van Dyvk, Ruben, De Vinci, Monet, Picasso, Van Gogh, etc. I was taken aback by how large some of these paintings really are. These artworks are what inspired me and what I’ve looked up to for years. Seeing them was overwhelming to me and my emotions. I loved every bit of it.

Wrapping up the week with Stonehenge and The Salisbury Cathedral. Stonehenge was gigantic and I could never understand how people were so intelligent back then. They took these large stones in a formation to know when crops will grow and when the nights will get longer. The Salisbury Cathedral was breathtaking in itself. The detail and glass windows are crazy to see. The center bowed but the columns stayed in place beautifully. I and some others lit a candle in respect of how magnificent the overall Cathedral is. Also, I was not expecting to see the Magna Carda! The foundation of many laws was there and beautifully preserved. I wish I could have taken a picture for you all. Overall, great first week and I’ve fallen in love with London and its magnificent culture.
