What a pretty type-filled world:)
This is my third week for the type walk progress. We got progressively more and more busy so my type for this week is all over the place in the way of mediums and places. But, we've got a nice collection of posters, signs, graffiti, and menus.
1) "Cinquecento"
Taken while on a walk around London South Bankside. This fun serif type face has some extra curly bits that I find interesting. There is a cool connection to the circular patterns within the font and also that its a (hopefully circular) pizza restaurant.
2) "Love Hate"
Here's a fake-out type face that appears to be more 3D, but it is just a play with color shades. It's flat between the glass actually. This was found in portobello market!
3) "Fish and Chips"
I'm a sucker for handwritten signs, as it turns out. I love how you can see the pencil strokes underneath the white marker to show that they planned this out. I always find hidden gems like that within art interesting. It reminds me of the Andy Warhol Campbell's Soup Can, where you can still the the pencil planning as well.
4) "Chic'N Wing"
Also located in Portobello Market was this Chicken restaurant and its fun Type. The color behind the signage is so new and modern, it really plays well with the sans serif bold white for the lettering. I am also just noticing the chicken hidden in the colors behind it, how fun!
5) "Civerino's Menu"
The best part about civerino's is the pizza. Then its the color. They are pretty close in scores, though. The Menu was so cool! I didn't take a photo when I should have, but the physical menu had a trippy black and white text and image on the back of it that only added to the experience here. The bright colors contrast nicely with the black sans serif text.
6) "Take a Smile"
This type face is a handwritten small sign we found at a bus stop. Not much to this one, I do like the throwback of the heart dotted eye!
7) "Hello Goodbye"
This typeface was found inside of the Abbey Road Studios gift shop! First of all that makes this sign already 10 times cooler. But since it's the actual font used for the song, "Hello Goodbye" by the Beatles its really cool that we found it and I could snap a picture.
8) "Brewhemia"
The Brewhemia restaurant is one of the first views you can get when arriving by train to Edinburgh, Scotland. This wonderfully magical typeface gives the store a nice adventurous feeling. I think it's also a great match with the colorful and playful exterior.
