Ahh, Week Two!
It has passed so fast. So many good memories that yet again, I wouldn't have the time to write them all out. Here are my favorite fonts from some of those places. We've really began to see many different sides of London and the fun personalities that come with it. This past Sunday we moved locations, to our new home of Bankside. So many beautiful and tall Sans Serif typefaces here! Here we go with some background for each!
1) Brixton Got Soul
This typeface has some sweet texture on it! This poster can be seen walking underneath one of the bridges in Bankside, along with many others collaged on the wall. This photo was taken on Monday July 25, 2022 at 8:35PM with a Wide iPhone Camera- 26mm.
2) Lantana
Fun fact about the name Lantana: In the U.K., Lantana the flower is considered a weed due to its toxicity to wildlife and overpopulation in fields, however, in the U.S.A. is it a flower sold in popular stores such as Lowes! This cafe, not the flower, was located on Southwark St during our walk to the bus stop. It is - as far as I can tell - a handwritten script font made into a sign with something similar to metal. It has a lovely underflow of yellow to compliment the darker black on top. This photo was taken Monday, July 25, 2022 at 8:38 PM with a Wide iPhone Camera- 26mm.
3) Artwork Found on Street
I unfortunately do not have much information on this piece or its fonts since there are so many. All I can tell is that there are plastered (paper mached?) newspaper clippings on top of each other. I really enjoy how the typefaces and titles work in this piece.
4) Park Your Backside
Located directly outside of our new location in between shops. This sign is on a bench, clearly! I like the compliment of the sleek concrete coolness and the tallness of this font, as well as the not having serifs. It is adjusted to the left side of the bench which I find interetsing, because most text on objects in the middle. 10/10 would read again. Probably would park my backside too while I'm at it. 4) Bosnian Girl
This was an art piece in the Tate Modern Museum on a visit this past Thursday. This handwritten font gives the piece a natural and authentic Taken on July 28, 2022 at 11:22 AM Wide iPhone Camera- 26mm.
5) Order Here
Our last piece is this simple sign at the local coffee shop, Black Sheep Coffee. They have a nice painting recreation of the iconic "Creation of Adam" hands, and have their logo in the middle. Taken on July 27, 2022 at 12:19 PM with a wide iPhone camera- 26mm. The color choices in this small shop go well with each other, including the yellow glow of the sign.
