Type Walk the Walk: Week 1

Samuel Smith Glass, Bricklayer Arms Pub, 7/18

When visiting the Bricklayer Arms pub, I found myself fascinated by not just the font, but the image itself. The shiny gold blended well with my drink, creating a perfect contrast between both yellow hues and the black and white.

Description
"1001 Spells", British Museum Gift Shop, 7/20

The 1001 Spells spellbook contains an interesting aesthetic by turning the zeros into faces, while also creating a nice shadow between the sun and moon. However, I found myself drawn to the abstract background as this busy image without making it overwhelming.

Creams Poster, Creams Ice Cream, 7/20

After trying some ice cream at a "Creams" shop, I found this poster that made an amazing use of fonts and images that made me want to consider trying it again. Despite how simple the Cookie Dough font is, the edges sticking out of font made the best representation of ice cream, being a cold treat, despite also being a consistent and dripping snack.

Drawing Poster, L. Cornelissen & Son, 7/20

When traveling to the British Museum, I passed by a shop known as the L. Cornelissen & Son. While green-blue colors normally attract my attention, I found myself drawn to the illustration and the font on his poster. The letterforms represent a level of creativity with wiggling lines while keeping a professional appearance with the Times New Roman looking font.

"Akhenaten's Egypt's False Prophet", British Museum Gift Shop, 7/20

As I passed by the gift shop in the British Museum, I found a few book covers I thought were interesting, one of which being "Akhenaten's Egypt's False Prophet." Everything that's in this image follows a chalky design, including the lines, font and illustrations. This also makes a good use of illustration being one of the focal points to represent the books title, while Akhenaten's letterforms aren't taken away by the illustration.
